Baterry Clinic is an object designed for the proper sorting, testing, recharging, storage and transportation of batteries that aims to educate about the importance of energy conservation. With its help, a problem is solved through a pleasant and educational activity.
Children are target customers for batteries and producers are offering them in bigger and bigger packs, in a pure consumerist push. Battery Clinic reverses this trend by making energy conservation the purpose of the play. It is a toy “clinic” wherein “conservation” means “care”, with a practical outcome:  batteries longer life extends the play time for own toys. Taking out batteries from toys and storing them in the clinic may extend their life (no accidental short circuits). Moreover, the clinic has a charge tester and dedicated “rooms” for similarly charged batteries because the use of equally charged batteries further extends their life. Empty batteries are stored and carried to the recycling point in an ambulance, giving recycling the meaning of “rescue”. Empty lithium batteries are going in the ambulance cabin, therefore not forgotten in the drawer. There is a recharging point for rechargeable batteries (intensive care) and a sandpaper line for cleaning electrodes (emergency line). The wood is not only environmentally friendly, but provides perfect insulation between the clinic components. When energy conservation is made simple, it may give a lasting awareness.
